Remy Hair Facts
Remy Hair Facts
Remy hair is a type of hair made from natural human hair. It is one of the most popular types of hair because of it’s ability to last. Remy hair has all its cuticles intact and running in the same direction, making it relatively tangle-free. Non-remy hair rubs up against each other, which can make it look frizzy. The last thing you want is a head of frizz. Remy hair always looks sleek, smooth and natural – like you just came from a salon.
Types of Remy Hair
There’s two types of Remy Hair: Virgin Remy and non-virgin Remy Hair. Virgin hair is not colored and not treated with any chemicals; whereas non-virgin hair has been chemically treated in some way. Because Virgin Remy hair is pure, it is also more expensive.
Remy hair can be made into hair weft, yaki hair or wigs. Weft basically means its a long strip of hair that’s like a curtain and it has a seam at the top and this is where you can sew on clips, or glue/sew hair in to a client’s hair. Yaki hair means that it’s been straightened and made to look much like natural African American hair. When Remy hair is sewn into a wig, it can be custom styled and colored to the client’s preference.
Remy hair weft can be either single or double drawn. With single drawn hair, the hair has different lengths, where with double drawn hair, they are all the same length. Single drawn hair is from one donor, and it is ideal for people who want to have layered, natural looks.
It can be confusing to purchase Remy Hair because it comes from so many places. There’s Indian, Peruvian, Brazilian, Malaysian and Mongolian hair among others. Peruvian and Brazilian hair tends to be naturally curly, where Asian hair like Malaysian tends to be straight. Your personal style really determines which type of hair is right for you.
Care of Remy Hair
Washing hair frequently strips the hair of its natural oils and tends to dry it out. Washing should only be done once a week to keep the hair looking silky and smooth. Use shampoos and conditioners that contain moisturizer. You can straighten the hair, but make sure the hair is dry when you do so. Use a ceramic flat iron. You can also blow dry your hair extensions, but use a medium heat and don’t keep it on the hair as long as you would natural hair.
